Cardamom Chicken

Hi there! Well today's star ingredient is cardamom! This recipe has a strong flavour of cardamom. Cardamoms go well with both dessert and savoury dishes and I love it. The recipe has green cardamoms for a very pungent flavour and black cardamoms for an earthy smokey flavour. With few ingredients and easy to cook, this recipe is good to try. So have some cardamom taste and cook the natural way! Hope you like it!!

You need
1 kg chicken (curry pieces)

For marinade
15 green cardamoms ( only seeds)
8 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon ginger paste
2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon salt
a small bunch of coriander leaves

For gravy
4 medium-sized onions (grind to paste)
3 black cardamoms
10 pepper corns
1 inch long cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 tablespoon coriander powder
1/4 cup curd or yogurt
1/2 cup water (or more)
1 tablespoon oil

1. Grind all the marinade ingredients into a paste.

2 Coat the chicken well with the marinade and marinate the Chicken for 6 to 12 hours.

3. In a wok ( kadai), heat oil and fry cumin seeds, black cardamoms, cinnamon and pepper corns till they splutter.

4. Now add onion paste and cook well till it leaves oil to the side.

5. Now add coriander powder and chicken. cook for 15 minutes, stirring every now and then.

6. Put curd and water, mix well.

7. Check the seasoning and adjust to your prefrence. You can also add more chilli powder, if you want it spicy.

8. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with naan, roti or rice!!
